Founded in 1927 and subdivided on 1,000 acres of land, Sherman Oaks is a popular and flourishing neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles California. The geography is roughly bounded by Studio City to the east, Van Nuys to the north, Encino to the west and Beverly Hills Post Office to the south. Known for its award-winning schools, housing affordability and convenient access to major studios and the Westside, many entertainment professionals and families flock to live in Sherman Oaks. South of Ventura Blvd is the hillside area where homes are tucked into gently sloping hills that offer expansive views overlooking the Valley. Surrounded by a community of modest homes and lined by an eclectic selection of unique retail shops and locally owned restaurants, Ventura Blvd divides the North and South of Sherman Oaks. The largest shopping and entertainment venues include Sherman Oaks Galleria, Sherman Oaks Fashion Square and the Village at Sherman Oaks. Situated in Northern Sherman Oaks are the affluent neighborhoods of Chandler Estates and Hidden Woods featuring a selection of luxury homes and estate size lots. Sherman Oaks displays a wide variety of architectural styles, among them are mid-century homes, new construction modern farmhouses and character-rich Mellenthin “birdhouse” homes built from the 1920’s -1950’s.
