PRODUCER MEGAN ELLISON BUYS NEXT DOOR IN MOUNT OLYMPUS

Billionaire software heiress and super producer Megan Ellison is once again expanding her mini real estate empire and she didn’t have to walk far to do it. Ellison decided she liked the newly renovated house next door to her in Mount Olympus so much, she went ahead and bought it for $5.25 million.

The thoroughly contemporary house has a boxy flat-roofed profile and is covered in wood paneling, in a tasteful nod to the Mid-Century modern style that once made up a large portion of the homes in the Hollywood Hills.

Once inside the two story five bedroom, six bath property is all white open spaces and sleek finishings. All 5,240 square feet have undergone an open-concept contemporary overhaul, complete with smart home tech like electronically operated sliding glass doors and a state of the art home automation and security system.

Walnut paneled walls and a stunning Brazilian marble staircase add a uniqueness and warmth to the redesign, avoiding the all white silver and black trend that seems to be overtaking all the new contemporary homes in the Hills.

Most of the rooms open on deep balconies that offer views of the canyons and city lights. Set below the house, a large deck offers more views and plenty of space to lounge next to the pool and spa.

The home is literally next door to Ellison’s current compound, a mult-parcel eight-plus acre spread she acquired in separate transactions in late 2013 for an estimated $30 million. The producer who is rightfully credited with keeping true independent auteur-driven films alive over the past few years, previously owned a three property compound in the Bird Streets. But she sold that off over the summer of 2013 for $46.75 million.

Ellison also owns the “UFO apartment” on the top of the Police Building apartments in Manhattan, which she was able to pick up for $2.8 million, less than half of its original asking price of $7 million.
