Outpost Estates

Outpost Estates is a canyon neighborhood of Hollywood Hills homes sitting just above the main strip of Hollywood Blvd’s walk of fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Bowl amphitheater. Outpost Estates is located directly east of Runyon Canyon Park and centered around the main route of Outpost Drive. In 1920’s Los Angeles real estate, Outpost was the first ten and a half acres developed for Charles E. Toberman’s Hollywood luxury subdivision and was one of the original Los Angeles luxury homes neighborhoods in the heart of Old Hollywood Hills. This area received its name from its previous owner, General Harrison Gray Otis, the founder of the Los Angeles Times and the Chandler dynasty. The origin of the name “Outpost” derives from an early building constructed by General Otis as a clubhouse for entertaining his bud-dies from the military. Most of the original authentic Spanish style houses in Outpost Estates have been preserved and lower Outpost looks much like it did in the historical 1920s. The topography consists mostly of soft rolling hills that often create a landscape of large flat yards and city views. On average, the prices of Hollywood Hills homes in Outpost Estates range from $2 million to $15 million.
